Tom Fudge : Actors are very often defined by the characters they play. And Peter Falk, in the minds of most people, is Detective Columbo. He’s played many different characters in films before and after he starred as the TV detective. Early in his career he worked with Frank Capra and he was nominated twice for Academy Awards. He worked with actor/director John Cassevettes on three films. And he starred as the eccentric CIA agent in the film comedy the In Laws . But he’s still Columbo to most of us.
In Falk’s case, he’s embraced his association with the absent-minded detective. In fact, he’s written a book about his life called
