Filmmaker Explores Evolution Debate in New Documentary

Alison St John (Guest Host):  We all know the dodo went extinct because it didn't adapt to its changing environment.  Well, most of us know that -- creationists may have other ideas.  But a new documentary film about intelligent design, the latest manifestation of creationism, sends a whimsical warning to scientists: that if they are too dogmatic about clinging to the truth of evolution, they may turn out to be the dodos.  Randy Olson's film, Flock of Dodos is a delightful odyssey through the heart of the culture wars in America.

Randy Olson, Ph.D., will appear at a special seminar, "Communicating Your Science in 243 Easy Steps," tomorrow, Friday, May 11, at 2 p.m. at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography's Sumner Auditorium.
