Gasoline Was 50 Cents Per Gallon Cheaper at This Time Last Year
The price of a gallon of regular gas in San Diego is down four cents a gallon in the last week. The Utility Consumer's Action Network tracks the local gas market. U-CAN's Charles Langley says consumers can find gas selling at around three dollars and six cents a gallon. The average price is $3.23.
Langley says that's the most gas has ever cost this late in the year.
Langley : I look forward to December and January and I kind of count on that to be the lowest price of the year and it’s pretty much held true over the last ten years. And right now we're seeing probably the highest price ever for any late December in history for gasoline prices.
Langley says he's worried about next year's prices. He says the cost of gas typically starts going up in the first part of the year, peaking when the summer driving season starts at the end of May.
