Tom Fudge: The blue bin has become a familiar site on the streets of San Diego and many other cities in our state and country. Most people know that's where you put your recycling. The good citizens of our community take pride in the fact that their blue bin fills up a lot faster than that grubby, old black garbage bin. But most of us, even the good citizens, aren't entirely sure what is recyclable. The greatest confusion may come with plastic products. We use so much plastic and, theoretically, all of if is recyclable. But you're not supposed to put all of it in the blue bin.
We spend the rest of our show talking about what is recyclable in San Diego and why. We will learn a bit about how the local recycling program works, and why some things are still just trash.
