Tom Fudge: Next week is the June primary. As you know, this has become the other California primary. The first one was in February, when we voted for president, but next week's election is the one that will have a big bearing on the local political scene. In San Diego, it will be a test of public confidence in the leadership of Mayor Jerry Sanders. In fact, Sanders has a chance to win re-election outright next week, and avoid a general election run-off. Conversely, we'll find out what voters really think of San Diego's most prominent political contrarian, City Attorney Mike Aguirre.
Otherwise, there are referenda on the city ballot, related to the strong mayor system and the creation of a city auditor. Voters all around the state will decide whether there's a good plan to reform eminent domain. And, of course, there are the races for Congress and state Assembly. So stay tuned and you'll learn about all of this stuff.
