A housewife arrested at her upscale home near San Diego 32 years after escaping a Detroit-area prison is asking a judge to set aside her sentence for selling heroin.
Susan LeFevre's attorneys filed a motion Tuesday in Saginaw County Circuit Court arguing a judge in 1975 gave her an improperly long sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison.
The 53-year-old says she had no chance to review a pre-sentence report, which she says falsely portrayed her as making large profits selling drugs.
LeFevre, who went by Marie Walsh in California, was caught in April and now is in a Michigan prison.
Her initial attorney planned to ask Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm for clemency to avoid serving at least 5½ more years in prison. But her new lawyers are contesting her sentence.
