Tom Fudge: China has become a world power, economically and, you might say, cinematically as well. The names of several Chinese film actors and directors have become well-known to film buffs. And one of them is Wayne Wang. Wang is a director that has just come out with two new movies, and they are an interesting pair. 1,000 Years of Good Prayers is the name of one of them. It's a classic film in a sense, getting a wide theatrical release. But then there's Princess of Nebraska , which gets its release tomorrow on YouTube . That's right. You get a bowl of popcorn and watch in front of your computer.
Both of these films explore the modern division among generations of Chinese people, both those living in China and those in the great Chinese diaspora.
1000 Years of Good Prayers opens later this month at Landmark Theaters. Princess of Nebraska debuts tomorrow on YouTube.
