Tom Fudge: KPBS has been presenting a series of TV and radio programs on the theme of Getting By. We're looking at the recession that's gripped the entire U.S. economy, and the growing disparity between wages and costs of living in San Diego. Today, we're going to take a look at small business, and the challenges they face in getting by.
The American financial credit crunch has made money hard to come by. That means small businesses have a lot less flexibility when it comes to making payroll and investing in capital improvements. The drop-off in sales is another source of hardship. Joining me now are two men associated an organization called SCORE. The name of the group is based on an acronym that isn't used anymore. The volunteer group is now committed to being "counselors to America's small business."
The KPBS and Envision San Diego Special Getting By will air Thursday, October 23 at 8pm on KPBS-TV.
