Maureen Cavanaugh: You may already be familiar with my first guest today. He's become something of a local celebrity on San Diego television commercials. Realtor Matt Battiata has been putting an upbeat swing on the down turn in the real estate market in a series of commercials with the tag line: "I'm not bragging, I'm applying for a job."
And now, he's not bragging, he's going to Washington. Battiata will represent the cases of 500 homeowners when he meets with House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, Senators Diane Feinstein & Barbara Boxer, and Congressman Brian Bilbray later this month. He will be talking about reforms in home loan foreclosure procedures that he says are not working. He says lending institutions are still making short sales difficult and the vast majority of homeowners are not receiving loan modifications.
