At the end of the year, we like to take stock. What were those events, issues and people who drove our thoughts and conversations?

Voice of San Diego, a nonprofit news organization, continues its tradition of making those assessments on the local level. Who in San Diego made a difference, caused a controversy and perhaps, shaped the future? Its Voice of the Year 2019 list consists of politicians, civic leaders and ordinary citizens whose voices were heard this year in San Diego.

Sara Libby, managing editor of the Voice of San Diego, joins KPBS Midday Edition on Friday to discuss who made this year's Voice of the Year list.
