Only here can you find a San Diego photographer whose inspiration lies in the dark, crowded punk venues of Tijuana. All music in this episode is by Tijuana punk band San Pedro El Cortez.

Punk music is both John Brady's passion and escape.

He's a musician and a photographer in San Diego. And for the last few years, he’s been documenting the punk scene in Tijuana.

Not a lot of San Diegans dive so deeply into subcultures in Tijuana the way Brady has. But the way he grew up — the difficult things he experienced at a young age — made him more independent and willing to explore things most others won’t.
