That process begins Tuesday with the first of three public meetings asking for input on what works, what might work and what doesn't work for the fairgrounds. This comes after gun shows have been barred from the property, interest in horse racing has fallen off, fair attendance has decreased and the Kaboo music festival has found a new home.

The first public meeting is at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the fairground’s Mission Tower Building.
Phil Diehl, a reporter at The San Diego Union-Tribune, has reported on the fairground's possible future and joined Midday Edition on Tuesday to discuss what may be in store for the property.
