Aaron Bianco is a New Yorker, born and bred. Growing up in an Italian-American family in the Bronx, Catholicism was always a part of his life, made more complicated after he came out as gay.
After Bianco's husband got a job offer, they drove across the country to move to San Diego. But a bite of a bagel gave Bianco and his husband second thoughts.
Bianco continues to struggle with being a New Yorker in a city that moves at a much slower pace.
Hear Bianco's personal story in a new episode of "My First Day," a KPBS Explore podcast that explores these important days through people who came to San Diego from elsewhere, and now call it home.
