Tijuana-born Author Delves into Cross-border Life

Maureen Cavanaugh : The movement of undocumented immigrants from Mexico into the United States has inspired lots of controversy, lots of politics and lots of anxiety on both sides of the border.
It has also inspired a great book, written by my guest, Luis Alberto Urrea. The nonfiction book "The Devil's Highway" has won several awards and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2005. It is a story that follows a group of Mexican immigrants lost in the Arizona desert, and it is written in a way that would make no reader surprised to learn that the author is also a poet.
