Spending From San Diego Bowl Games Drops, Report Finds
The economic impact of San Diego's two football bowl games was significantly less in 2011 than it was in years past.
The nonprofit San Diego Bowl Association says a review of the games by researchers at San Diego State University found about 25,500 people came to town for the Holiday Bowl and about 9,200 fans came here for the Poinsettia Bowl.
The study estimates there was about $13 million in direct spending as a result of the two games and another $13 million in indirect spending.
In 2008 the two games generated more than $50 million dollars in economic activity.
