Quake In Chile Causes Mild Tidal Shift In San Diego

Quake In Chile Causes Mild Tidal Shift In San Diego

ED JOYCE (KPBS Reporter): So, I was out here this morning at high tide, roughly around 7:30 a.m. and the water was way up on the shore on the beach here in South Mission Beach. Then, as the day progressed the tide was receding. But, when the tsunami wave was expected to be coming, I noticed that the tide came up again, it receded again and it came up again over a period of five or six hours. Then, closer to 2 p.m., it receded again on Saturday afternoon. It could be part of the effect of the tsunami because it's not typical for the tide to vacillate in such a short period of time.
