Protestors from Occupy San Diego are calling on the City Council to pass a resolution supporting their movement. But so far, it's not happening.
The Occupy San Diego protestors want a resolution passed allowing them to continue to occupy the Civic Center Plaza Downtown, and allowing them to erect up to 300 tents, among other things.
Council President Tony Young could put such a resolution on the council agenda on his own, or four other councilmembers could join together and present Young with a memo requesting the item be heard. But that hasn’t happened and Young said he won’t act alone.
Young said he is educating protestors about how the council system works.
"I think that’s it’s important to support the people’s business, which is what we do here at City Hall, through the process, which has been established, which I think actually works," he said.
This week Young ended a council meeting early after Occupy protestors refused to stop chanting.
