A California Assembly member is trying to salvage a program that provides day care and health services for about 35,000 frail adults. The program is scheduled to end in December, and advocates are concerned about the loss of services.
At a committee hearing this week, The Brown Administration presented its plan to transition participants to managed care. Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada convened the hearing and says she hopes to find a solution:
"Dismantling an important program like this, especially the speed with which it is being dismantled is a mistake," Yamada said. "We are hoping that we will garner enough support to perhaps resurrect this discussion in some fashion."
