For weeks now, growing crowds have taken to the streets accusing President Jean Bertrand Aristide of thuggery and corruption. Aristide says the protesters are wrong.

Detractors of the populist priest-turned-president have traditionally come from the elite. But each day more and more voices are calling on Aristide to step down. NPR's Gerry Hadden reports.
