Guantanamo detainee David Hicks has become the first person to be convicted under the new Military Commissions Act.
Hicks, who is an Australian citizen, was facing a possible life sentence for providing material support for terrorism. Instead, a plea agreement allows him to receive a nine-month prison sentence that can be served out in Australia.
