Freelance photojournalist Zoriah Miller was disembedded from the Marine Corps after posting graphic images of victims of a June 26 suicide blast in Anbar province on his blog.
"What I saw was abhorently [sic] graphic," Miller writes, "yet far too important for the world to ignore."
The military argues that publishing images of dead American servicemen is an insult to their memories and insensitive to their families. Officials also warn it could create security problems.
Journalists counter that not publishing graphic images of conflict creates a sanitized picture of the war.
Miller writes on his blog: "I present images that provide an uncensored view of a terrible event, and some small measure of dignity to those who lost their lives."
