Many Latin American countries ignore HIV among men who have sex with men because gays, bisexuals and transgenders are social outcasts. A report from the American Foundation for AIDS Research found that many countries and international organizations still don't know the rate of infections in this high-risk group and don't reach out to them.
The story of one gay man from Jamaica exemplifies how violence against gays can be so great that it overshadows concerns about HIV.
