Slavery secretly thrives in some corners of the world, while in other places it is a blatant reality.

For more on the reality of modern slavery and the 27 million people affected by it, Farai Chideya speaks with Jolene Smith, co-founder of the Free the Slaves foundation, which aims to end slavery across the globe.

Former child slave James Kofi Annan, who hails from Ghana, also shares his experiences.
