Recently, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors gave an initial okay to a plan to get rid of eye gnats at organic farms. The plan isn't too popular with organic farmers because it allows, as a last resort, the spraying of non-organic pesticides.
As the new plan is still being studied, we though it might be a good time to find out about organic growing in San Diego. How much of our agriculture is made up of organic farms, what challenges they face...and what it takes to be organic.
