Reporter Alison St John has been a vibrant and knowledgeable presence on KPBS's air for nearly 30 years. Now, she’s decided to change course. Thursday is her last day at KPBS. She is retiring from journalism and moving on to the next adventures and challenges in her life.
St John began her career at KPBS in 1989 as a community producer. She was hired full-time as one of the first reporters in the newsroom in 1991.
Originally from Scotland, St John speaks in an amalgamated accent that blends together her life experience living around the world in England, India and the United States.
"I heard it described as a mid-Atlantic accent," St John said. "Because when I'm at home (in Scotland) people think I sound completely American and when I'm here people think I've got some British in me."
St. John joins Midday Edition Thursday to talk about her career reporting in San Diego and what lies ahead.
