Over 400 Hate Crimes Reported In San Diego County Over The Past Five Years

Over 400 Hate Crimes Reported In San Diego County Over The Past Five Years

A new analysis by the San Diego Union-Tribune of hate crime data in San Diego County shows what kinds of hate crimes occur in the region and where.

A new report by The San Diego Union-Tribune provides a snapshot of hate across San Diego County.

The analysis shows there were 437 hate crimes reported across the county between 2014 and 2018, with the majority targeting the LGBT community, followed by those against black people and Latinos.

While most incidents occurred in the city of San Diego, the data show hate crimes were also reported in more than 20 communities. The analysis comes in the wake of the Poway synagogue shooting in April and as communities across the nation are experiencing a rise in hate incidents.
