Doctors on the front lines of combat could one day use radar to help diagnose concussions in wounded troops, according to studies conducted by Georgia Tech Research Institute. GTRI research engineers created a simple test which requires the subject to walk and perform thinking tasks at the same time. Researchers then use a device (similar to a police officer's radar gun) to pick up information on the subject's leg, head, and body movements. GTRI's Jennifer Palmer explains...
Researchers at GTRI believe if doctors can diagnose concussions more quickly, the better and speedier the treatment will be for the wounded warrior. According to USA Today at least 80,000 troops have been diagnosed with concussions since 2001.
GTRI put together a short video to explain this exciting new research. Take a look!
