Former Deputy Secretary of the Interior Steven Griles admits to charges of obstructing justice and lying to Senate investigators about his ties to convicted lobbyist Abramoff.
In a plea deal, prosecutors have agreed to seek no more than 10 months' confinement for Griles — half of which could be served under house arrest — when he is sentenced in June.
Griles admitted lying to Congress about Abramoff, who enlisted Griles' help for his Indian tribal clients. Abramoff has been convicted of bribing public officials to favor his clients.
