Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan says in an upcoming book that he passed false information to the media about the Valerie Plame CIA leak case.
An excerpt from McClellan's book has been posted on his publisher's Web site. In the excerpt, McClellan says the information had been provided by high officials in the administration, including President Bush.
In response, the current White House press secretary says the president "would not ask his spokespeople to pass on false information."
