Acclaimed actor Jimmy Smits will host the 28th annual broadcast of A Capitol Fourth on PBS this July 4th.
Before his primetime duties, the actor sits for a talk with NPR's Michel Martin about his celebrated career in television, the personal significance of hosting this year's Independence Day celebration and why he is proud to be an American.
Smits also discusses whether a run for public office is in his future.
