Politics in Alaska have gotten a lot of attention lately because of long-time Senator Ted Stevens' troubles. Yesterday he easily won the Republican primary, despite the fact that he's facing trial next month on charges stemming from a quarter of a million dollar renovation of his house - paid for by oil industry executives along with other gifts.
In Florida politics, Tom Rooney, a lawyer and former Army officer won the Republican primary for the seat previously held by Congressman Mark Foley.
