California's campaign finance watchdog says it will post financial disclosure forms submitted by judicial candidates online within the next two weeks.
The Fair Political Practices Commission or FPPC says there is growing concern nationwide about money spent to influence court races.
The California Judges Association had originally fought the move. They said the forms could contain information such as property ownership or a spouse’s place of work that might jeopardize their security.
But FPPC Chair Ann Ravelsays the Commission has since changed that policy. “The view of the commission was that we could deal with the security concerns by redacting some personal information but ensuring that the important information is provided to the public online.”
The California Judges Association says the change addresses their concerns.
