  • We welcome the new year with the amazing, captivating work of Marianela de la Hoz! Opening Reception: Saturday, January 20th, 4 - 7pm Exhibit run time: January 20 - February 16, 2024 Gallery hours: By appointment only, contact (858) 336-6678 "All of us travel through a tiny world, with an existence that we perceive enormous, but in reality, it is so tiny that it is not even observed by others. And in that minimum dimensional space, events happen, which, due to their relatively small impact, are not noticed; with my painted images I try to make them seen and felt. The duality in my painting is always present, the eternal combination of good and bad in each and every one, the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde within ourselves. We are neither saints nor devils we are a combination of both and this condition makes us humans, imperfect and yet beautiful and incredible. The main goal of my tragicomic paintings is to reach people’s consciousness’s by provoking a critical thinking process, searching for their reactions as a total being- neither pure sensibility, nor pure reason. The magic of art is that what seems to be an individualistic vision of reality touches and reaches the observer, who in turn observes and interacts with what I paint. Painting for me is a necessity." - Marianela de la Hoz We hope you’ll join us in celebrating an exciting opening! For more information visit: sipartspace.com
  • Come join us on March 30 for our own version of “Saturday morning cartoons!” At Toons & Tunes, children and their families can enjoy a screening of classic cartoons at the beautiful Balboa Theatre. The classic cartoons will be accompanied by a pipe organ, but this is not the austere, formal sound you may think of. The Wonder Morton theatre organ has dozens of “voices,” which can imitate chimes, violins, a choir, and more! Theatre organist Ken Double will bring this whimsical instrument to life for our youngest audience members. There will be a kids’ costume parade before the screening begins, so we encourage families to come dressed in your best Roaring ‘20s attire! Balboa Theatre - San Diego on Facebook / Instagram
