The San Diego Arab Film Festival is back for 2025 with live, in-person presentations of feature length and short films at the Museum of Photographic Arts. The festival will open on Friday, April 4, and present 8 screenings, each showcasing one feature film and one short film (except for one that has 2 shorts), from across the Arab World. Each evening, the festival will also offer cafeteria-style Arabic dinner. This year we have decided to emphasize films from or about countries that are under attack: Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. Our opening and closing night features are from Palestine (including the Academy Award winner No Other Land), and each screening includes a short film from or about Palestine–including a powerful film about Gaza submitted by a filmmaker in Iran. The Festival also includes films from Egypt and Tunisia, both of which were submitted to the Oscars in the International Film category, and one from Algeria, a docu-drama about Frantz Fanon set at the beginning of the Algerian revolution. We are excited to bring these films to the San Diego community! Tickets are on sale now, with individual screenings at $15 (discounted to $12 for students), 3-ticket packages for $40 and Festival passes for all 8 screenings for $80. ENRICHING FOSTER YOUTH – We help to expose foster youth to the arts with a focus on visual arts, music and performing arts in local venues by partnering with local foster organizations. BOOK BUDDIES – We assist students to become lifelong learners by collaborating with their teachers to encourage reading by practicing reading either in person or online in a one on one or group setting. OPERATION LOANER HEARING AID – We provide short term loaner hearing aids for newborns to young adults up to 21 who are waiting for replacements which can take 6 months. We also provide long term use for low-income families and children with significant hearing loss. We partner with San Diego United School District (East and South Counties) and SDSU Audiology Department. SNEAKERS FOR MILITARY PRESCHOOLERS – We provide sneakers, Bombas socks, sweatshirts, pants, pajamas, sunsuits and jackets for children of enlisted military personnel in partnership with STEP (Support the Enlisted Program). TWAIN HIGH SCHOOL – We provide recognition events to support students in this alternative high school program on the main campus, Mira Mesa, Morse, Crawford and Hoover High School campuses. We also provide financial scholarship support for students attending one of San Diego’s community colleges. UPPER DIVISION SCHOLARSHIPS – We provide scholarships for fulltime students who have completed community college and are transitioning to an accredited college or university in pursuit of a four-year degree or continuing in those community colleges that offer baccalaureate degrees.

The Old Globe is thrilled to announce its 90th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, an unforgettable evening under the stars on the Globe’s Copley Plaza and on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Sheryl White and Jennifer Greenfield will serve as the Celebration Co-Chairs for this one-night-only fundraising event, which honors 90 years of theatre that lives beyond the stage, with Darlene Marcos Shiley as the Honorary Chair. Guests will experience an incredible evening, complete with exquisite dining, craft cocktails, and live entertainment, featuring an electrifying performance by Tony Award-nominated actor and Grammy and Emmy Award-winning songwriter/composer Christopher Jackson. Best known for his portrayal of George Washington in the critically acclaimed Broadway sensation "Hamilton." This black-tie event begins at 5:30 p.m. with signature cocktails by Snake Oil Cocktail Company and hors d’oeuvres on the Globe’s Copley Plaza. At 6:30 p.m. inside the Old Globe Theatre, Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will lead a special 90th Anniversary Celebration presentation highlighting the Globe’s mission and its impact on the community, followed by a special and exclusive performance by Christopher Jackson. The evening continues with a sumptuous three-course alfresco dinner catered by Urban Kitchen Catering at 8 p.m. and concludes with live music, dancing, and surprises under the stars.
