This eight-week workshop style course introduces students to a popular and fun printmaking technique of silk screen. No prior experience in printmaking is necessary. Students will create vibrant, multicolor prints using water-based silk-screen materials while exploring their own style and applying this popular method to their own imagery. The direct, on-screen stencil techniques, such as screen filler/drawing fluid or wax crayon, as well as indirect, photo-emulsion methods of drawing on Mylar will be shown, and digital file preparation will be explored. A stencil monotype-printing and mixed-media approaches will be covered. Students will learn how to set up their own DIY studio and will learn all aspects of preparation, setup, and production of fine art prints. Materials: Ink and studio materials will be provided. Fun and fast-paced, life drawing is a wonderful way to be in the moment. Learn how to draw the human figure, hone your existing skills, and develop some new ones. This class is for all levels of skill. Materials: Newsprint pad, 18” x 24”; soft vine charcoal; kneaded eraser. You are welcome to bring along any materials not on the list that you already have and would like to use. The instructor will provide some unusual art supplies with which to experiment. Each year, The House of Lebanon hosts their annual Lawn Program. The Entertainment is provided by different folk dance groups every year that will perform Folk Dances in regional native costumes. In addition to folkloric dance, local Lebanese artist will perform tradition song, music and poetry depicting the Lebanese heritage and Culture. The House of Lebanon serves a wide selection of traditional Lebanese “Meza”. Choose from two upcoming dates: March 30, 2-4:30 p.m. -or- May 25, 2-4:30 p.m. Join Suzanne Balestri to learn the basics of Fused Glass and create your own glass jewelry to keep for yourself or give as a gift. This fun workshop offers a perfect introduction to Kiln-Formed (fused) glass for beginners, and allows those who have worked with glass before to hone their abilities and finesse their skills. You will learn how fused glass differs from other forms of art glass, how to use the various tools involved in creating glass art, and how to cut and grind the glass you will be using in your wearable art project. Using a colorful array of glass and pre-fired adornments, you’ll construct abstract or representational designs to be fashioned into earrings, pendants, rings, cuff links, even belt buckles! Each student will have plenty of space in the kiln for several items! Your pieces will be fired in a glass kiln to completely fuse each design into one solid piece, and will be ready for you to pick up the following week. Workshop fee includes pre-workshop instructional videos, all glass, equipment, and kiln firing of several pieces. This workshop is recommended for All Skill Levels – Ages 13 and up.
