Let's move away from the mass-produced and make our own set of handmade, functional pieces. In this beginner-friendly course, students will learn hand-building techniques to create functional pottery, including but not limited to cups, bowls, and plates. Starting with these simple forms, students will learn the basics, develop their technique and get creative! The possibilities are endless and students will be able to create their own set, unique to their preferences and home use. The last class will be reserved for glazing. While this is a beginner-friendly course, intermediate students may join. Materials: Students must purchase a rolling pin; we'll use these to roll out slabs. Please bring an apron, hand towel, and notebook to keep track of wonderful ideas. Students may also bring their own tools or purchase a standard tool kit if they wish, but not required. Two Another are Eliot Porter and Angus Campbell, a musical duo originating from Sydney, Australia. Their kaleidoscopic mix of Electronic, Alternate RnB, Indie Pop and Soul has been heard across the globe since joining forces in 2015, amassing a following of over 1.8 million monthly listeners and over 400 million streams to date, with tour dates spanning across Europe, the Americas, the UK and back home in Australia. Kids explore ceramics and woodworking! Mon through Fri | July 28 – Aug 1 | 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Ages 7-12 years welcome! This week of Summer Camp is all about ceramics & woodworking for kids! Kids learn woodworking hand tool techniques from woodworking professional, Steffanie Dotson. A mom, woodworker, furniture maker, and Executive Director at San Diego Craft Collective, she teaches woodworking to both children and adults year-round. With a focus on safety, Steffanie creatively mentors children and fosters confidence through woodworking. Kids will also explore ceramics with visual artist-educator, Lydia Kardos. Each camper will learn and practice ceramic hand building techniques to make fun, long-lasting projects in this traditional medium full of creative flexibility. This camp is for kids, ages 7-12 years. Projects and depth of learning are matched up to the children’s age/ability.
