  • San Diego’s Back Pocket Whiskey Fellas have developed a reputation among local craft breweries, Irish Pubs and at numerous outdoor events for its rousing, crowd-pleasing, eclectic performances. Often incorporating and encouraging crowd participation, with a playlist that runs the gamut from Irish traditional, classic country, bluegrass, and classic rock, drawing a wide range of appeal for all ages. This eight piece acoustic band was founded in the summer of 2011 by San Diego rock band veterans: Jack Laux, Steve Hoshko, and George Davis, looking to explore the connections between Irish traditional and American roots, and infusing a rock band delivery, while still utilizing all acoustic instruments. The Fellas are proud to share that their third CD, "Third Flagon," has won the prestigious 2023 San Diego Music Awards’ “Best Local Recording”. The Fellas have all three of their albums, including "Second Pint and First Flask," available on Amazon and iTunes. They have their own music station featured on Pandora as well. 2024 will have the Fellas playing as many events, clubs, and music festivals as possible across the western U.S., hoping to share their music with as many fans as possible. • Saturday, August 30, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. No experience necessary. Age 15+ welcome! An ancient and eco-centered craft, Natural Dyes are a place to connect with the beauty and bounty of our planet’s rich offerings while creating with color and using our hands and minds to refresh our homes, wardrobes and to create one-of-a-kind palettes. In this hands-on workshop students will learn the entire process of natural dyeing while incorporating creative design elements through resist dye methods of Shibori. Each student will Shibori and hand-dye three natural fiber silk &/or bamboo scarves or squares to take home or gift to loved ones. If you’ve ever looked into using Natural Dyes, you may have been intimidated by the many facets of the process. We’ll cover them all–scour, mordant, preparation of natural dye, basic Shibori dye resist methods, natural dyeing & finishing–in great detail so you can get to creating with natural color today. Students will receive an "Intro to Natural Dyes" booklet that covers the entire process in detail, 3 natural fiber scarves to dye and Shibori, and samples from the dye pots. Students are also invited to bring one or two small glass jars (may be used/cleaned jars or new ones–no plastic containers as dye will be hot!) to take home dye at the end of class to continue to explore and experiment at home. • Military, first responders & sibling discount. • Scholarships available. • Homeschool funds accepted. • If this class is full, join the Interest List.
