Firefighters in East County continued to battle a 4550-acre vegetation fire in Canebreak Canyon Sunday.

Celebrations of Juneteenth were being held across San Diego County Saturday at Palomar Mountain, Logan Heights, the Old Globe outdoor theater in Balboa Park, and a bike ride from Mission Bay to Chicano Park, National City, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach.

Hot and dry conditions were forecast to continue this weekend from the San Diego County foothills, across the mountains and into the deserts, while the coastal basin was expected to be moderated by the marine layer and sea breezes, the National Weather Service said.

A heat wave will continue Saturday in San Diego County, but conditions are starting to shift slightly, and only the deserts will remain hot by Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
