Tom Fudge : Many people in this country go to trainers to become more fit, or to seek help with a physical problem. But trainers are a sundry bunch. Some have degrees and some are poorly trained. And they’re work is often compromised by the fact that they don’t have a relationship with their client’s doctor.

Anthony Carey is a San Diego exercise specialist who would like to see more collaboration between doctors and trainers. He points out that often the best thing a doctor can prescribe is not a drug, but an exercise program.
