Latino Comedy Trio Takes on California Politics

Tom Fudge : Culture Clash is a San Francisco-based comedy troupe that has adopted San Diego as a kind of second home. The three Latino comics have collaborated with local theaters like the San Diego Repertory Theater. They wrote a show about San Diego and Tijuana called Border Town . Now they’re on stage with a new show at the La Jolla Playhouse. The show is called Zorro in Hell , and it premiered at the Berkeley Repertory Theater this past summer. The show is a co-production of the Berkeley Rep. and the La Jolla playhouse.

Zorro in Hell is, more or less, about the mythic figure Zorro, well-known to TV and movie goers. But it’s also about modern California and, to some extent, about Arnold Schwarzenegger. Actually, I’d better let Culture Clash explain. Culture Clash is Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas, and Herbert Siguenza.

Zorro in Hell
runs through next weekend at the La Jolla Playhouse.
