Writer Targets Agro-terrorism in New Novel

Maureen Cavanaugh : The name Susan Arnout Smith is a familiar one to public radio listeners. She's been a popular contributor to NPR with a series of essays on the lessons, joys and challenges of family life.

Now, Arnout Smith has taken on a darker, more dangerous and action-packed assignment with a series of thriller novels. Her first "The Timer Game," introduced protagonist Grace Descanso, a crime scene technician.  And her follow up novel, "Out At Night," being released today, follows Grace Descanso through a plot that includes a masked crossbow assassin, and a suspected eco-terrorist who runs a tattoo parlor all set right here in San Diego.
