SAN DIEGO Up to 5,536 homes and businesses in the North County were without power today following two outages, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.
The first outage occurred shortly after 8 a.m. and affected up to 2,162 addresses in parts of Carlsbad, La Costa, south Vista and west San Marcos, the utility reported on its Web site. Electricity was expected to be restored in that area around 11 a.m.
The second outage occurred around 9:15 a.m. and affected up to 3,374 addresses in parts of Encinitas, Cardiff by the Sea and Olivenhain, according to the utility, which estimated power would be restored there by noon.
