Father Of Amber Dubois Backing Bills Protecting Against Sex Offenders

The father of 14-year-old murder victim, Amber Dubois, has returned to Sacramento to seek more state legislation he says will protect children.

After his daughter was kidnapped and murdered by a sex offender two years ago Moe Dubois formed an organization called "More Kids." He said its goal is to protect other kids from his daughter’s fate. This year he’s backing a handful of bills. One would require certain convicted sex offenders to carry specially marked driver’s licenses.

"We just want law enforcement to be able to recognize, if randomly at a checkpoint pulls over someone, and this person is known to be a threat to a child and he’s sitting next to a four-year-old little boy it’s gonna hopefully cause that law enforcement officer to raise at least the question, who’s this child with you?" Dubois said.

Another measure backed by Dubois would require law enforcement to provide notification to neighbors who live within 1,000 feet of a sex offender.

Don't people realize that most sexual offenders never hurt anyone at all? Most of them were 18 or 19 and had a consensual relationship with a 16 year old or so decades ago, or chatted on the internet with someone posing as a minor, or downloaded a pic of a teen on kazaa or limewire, or urinated in public, or streaked in college, or received a "sext" from their teen girlfriend, or prostituted or picked one up, or had oral or anal sex which is a felonly in any southern state or some other crime where there was no victim at all whatsoever.

Not even the 20,000 plus former murderers released every year and former islamic terrorist attempted bombers have residency restrictions or have to reregister on any form of online internet registry.

Violent sexual offenders like Phillip Garrido and John Gardner love that the registy has a million petty nonviolent sexual offenders so they can hide out amongst them to stay under the radar and slip through the cracks to strike again. These laws should only be focused on real molesters and forcible rapists and kidnappers and murderers who have a real victim, but they are not. Only violent sexual offenders should be monitored or on this registry. The vast majority of "sexual offenders" have never hurt anyone. The state needs to stop harassing them and let them raise their family in dignity like everyone else is allowed to. Most of them just made a mistake as a young man and would like to lead a good life but the state won't let them.

Just another idiot trying to create more laws to punish people who aren't dangerous and have already paid their debt back to society. give it a rest wil you? by the way four kids were murdered before the passage of megans law - the great law that now makes everyone safe (except sex - offenders, even low risk ones. ). since passage of megans law there has been 11 murders of sex offenders by people who located their info. off the internet. megans law was passed with the goal of reducing violent crimes but it has actually increased violent crimes by a total of 11 new crimes. Good job everyone in the senate and house. nice going. megans law has caused about 1000 people to be unemployed and homeless. probably led to the suicide of 100 sex offenders. people are safe - the only people you have to worry about now are politicians and law enforcement. anyone can get arrested for a sex crime now they dont even need proof . they will just lock you up and throw the key away if someone lies and says you did something. guilty until proven innocent. no need to put up with this nonsense anymore. email me at when i get enough people we will take megans law down and all the other garbage that has been passed to destroy sex offenders lives. and vote for this :
