Calif. Poll: Obama's Approval Rating Falls Below 50 Percent
A new poll shows that for the first time since he took office, President Obama’s approval rating has fallen below 50% in California.

The new Field Poll finds that fewer than half of California voters – 46 percent – approve of President Obama’s performance. Just three months ago it was 54 percent.

According to the poll, the drop has occurred across all voting groups. When it comes to his handling of the economy, only 40 percent of California voters approve -- 49 percent of those surveyed were inclined to re-elect the President, while 44 percent were not.

The Field Poll also asked voters whether they thought the country was headed in the right direction. More than two-thirds said things were on the wrong track.

The poll of roughly 1,000 registered California voters was conducted earlier this month.
