The USS Decatur is slated to leave San Diego tomorrow for an eight-month deployment. The guided-missile destroyer is headed to the Fifth Fleet Area of Responsibility, which includes the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, and the Arabian Sea.

Cmdr. Joel Ellingson, commanding officer of Decatur, told U.S. Pacific Fleet Public Affairs:

"The crew of Decatur has been working tirelessly throughout 2012 to prepare for this deployment. I am proud of the crew and we are ready to conduct maritime security operations and ballistic missile defense in support of fleet objectives. We would like to thank the family and friends of Decatur for their continued support as we depart on deployment."

Will you be at Naval Base San Diego tomorrow to say goodbye to the crew of the USS Decatur?
