Marine Kicked Out Of Corps For Anti-Obama Facebook Posts To Run For Office

Sgt. Gary Stein

Above: Sgt. Gary Stein

Ex-Camp Pendleton Marine Gary Stein, who was kicked out of the Corps in April after writing anti-Obama Facebook posts, has announced plans to run for elected office. Stein, a Tea Party Republican, says he will run for a seat on the Murrieta City Council.

Stein told Camp Pendleton Patch he will pick up the necessary paperwork today:

"...I firmly believe that real 'Change' comes from from real leadership within the cities and towns around the nation."

Interestingly enough, on Sunday Stein wrote on the Facebook page of the Armed Forces Tea Party, saying that he had removed his personal Facebook page - the one on which he wrote statements declaring he would not follow orders from his commander-in-chief, President Barack Obama. (He later altered those statements to say he wouldn't follow "unlawful" orders.)

Stein, who now works as a real estate agent, wrote:

I will be taking a break from the political world the next few weeks as I continue the launch of my real estate business, Gary Stein Homes (Yes that was me plugging my business... what can I say, I'm an entrepreneur) . I will continue to post and comment on AFTP. This will only be for few weeks and when I do restore the page it will be better then ever and we will be relaunching my radio show.

So, it seems, Stein is taking a break from the online political world, but not the real-world political world? Would you vote for Stein if you could? Have your say in our comments section!

lol If he couldn't take his military oath seriously, how do Murrieta voters think he will take his council seat oath if he wins and is sworn in???

I actually agree with you Mission.

He should have quit the moment he realized he couldn't serve under Obama. I know former officers who resigned their commissions because they refused to serve under Bush and Obama (albeit for different reasons).

Perhaps its harder for enlisted men to resign, but they should have thought about that before enlisting.

Parents, be sure to ask your kids who are thinking about joining the military:

What if a right-wing megalomaniac or left-wing lunatic gets elected and orders you to die in some far flung third-world country for dubious reasons?

He was kicked out of the Marine Corps, thereby wasting tens of thousands of dollars in training and disrupting his unit. He is a highly reactive and disrespectful 26-year-old. He is associated with a fringe political group which is informed by the likes of Donald Trump, Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin.

"...I firmly believe that real 'Change' comes from from real leadership within the cities and towns around the nation."

99.9% wrong! Real change comes from within. The .1% who bring about change from without have a genius product and/or revolutionary world-changing idea. Unless Gary Stein has something up his sleeve and is waiting for the right time to spring it upon the world, he's just a brand new second-hand. No thanks.

I suppose the question of voting would depend on what other options were available and whether or not they were better than someone who couldn’t serve the way they had promised. Unfortunately, there is a very low bar for politicians.
