The U.S. Air Force has restored its Tuition Assistance program, just a few hours after the Army restored enrollment in its program.
According to Air Force public affairs, the Tuition Assistance program available to Airmen today is the same as the one available before suspension:
Airmen are eligible for up to $4,500 per fiscal year and a maximum of $250 per semester hour or quarter hour equivalent to cover tuition and allowable fees.
However...
Military tuition assistance is not available retroactively to cover courses taken and paid for using any other funding source during the suspension of military tuition assistance.
Because of sequestration cuts, the Air Force, Marine Corps, Army, and Coast Guard last month all suspended their Tuition Assistance programs.
However, the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2013 required the services to restore their respective programs for the current fiscal year. The Coast Guard was not covered in the measure, but restarted its program nonetheless.
The Marine Corps is the only branch of the service that has yet to restore enrollment in its TA program.
