Nearly 200 children from Father Joe's Villages, teens from Toussaint Academy San Diego group home and families are expected to attend Friday afternoon's holiday party at the Joan Croc Center, which will be decorated with lights, wreaths and garland, officials said.
Attendees will be treated to a hot meal, crafts, games and music, and personalized gifts will be given to each child, officials said.
According to Father Joe's Villages, nearly 9,000 people in San Diego are homeless, and, of the estimated 2,000 people who are part of homeless families, around two-thirds are school-age children.
