San Diego Mayor Bob Filner Discusses TMD, City Unions, Revised Budget & La Jolla Cove

Evening Edition

Aired 6/3/13 on KPBS Midday Edition.

Bob Filner, mayor, City of San Diego

San Diego Mayor Bob Filner found himself in the middle of a political fight again last week. The Tourism Marketing District threatened to shut down today because the city hadn't yet released money the TMD said it needed to pay its employees. The mayor handed over the funding Friday afternoon after a decision by the TMD to contribute to the Balboa Park centennial celebration set for 2015.

Filner joins us in-studio to talk about that dispute and more.

I listened to the noon-time program and Filner was clear, logical, and reasonable. It's refreshing to finally have a mayor who isn't afraid to do what's right. I agree with his pouts about the Toryism authority - they pulled a bait and switch so they could use tax payer money to give their hacks bonuses. I applaud Filner for standing up to these greedy crooks. It's too bad our city attorney is a do-nothing cronie.
