Wife of Lt. Col. Joseph Miley poses for controversial calender

Army officials have suspended Lt. Col. Joseph Miley, commander of the Alaska Army National Guard’s 49th Missile Defense Battalion, as they investigate allegations of sexual misconduct.

The Army Times reports a risqué calender featuring photos of Miley's wife and other female soldiers first sparked the investigation. The calender's profits went to charity, and the Army found no wrongdoing.

But according to POLITICO, the Army then expanded its probe after allegations surfaced that Miley overlooked extramarital affairs among the soldiers under his command.

U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command spokesman Marco Morales said Lt. Gen. Richard P. Formica relieved Miley of his duties on Tuesday:

“He was suspended until further notice by Gen. Formica... He’s still in the area, but he’s not the commander anymore.”
